Egg Donor Information
In Canada, it’s illegal to pay for egg donation, according to Julie Shapiro’s recent post.
In fact, people can get up to 10 years in prison if they pay for egg donation (but neither I nor Julie know of a case where this was actually executed…)
In her post, she discusses the pro’s and cons of this legislation, but the final result is: there is a lack of egg donors in Canada, and IP (intended parents) are going abroad to fulfill that need.
